The Politics of Pleasure: Evolving Sexual Ethics
What is “healthy sexuality”? Sex at its foundation is just a bodily function, with both good and bad aspects – yet our society seems to focus most of its efforts on discussing the horrible consequences of being sexual, and rarely discusses the healthy aspects of sexuality. It’s time for us to balance out that bias!
In this two-hour workshop, Oh Megan! will discuss society’s common desires, demonstrate how and where healthy sexuality is expressed, and deconstruct popular rhetoric surrounding our hypersexualized culture. What does slut-shaming do to our ideas of sex? Is sexual hair-pulling empowering, or immoral? Can you fantasize about rape but still identify as a feminist? Does sex addiction exist? Participants will tackle these questions and more, as Megan provides resources to assist everyone in making the best choices about their sexuality that fit within their own ethics.
